Being fan of free culture and open source software, I attended my first Wikipedia Day NYC meetup.
I love Wikipedia. Many time I want information and all pages in search engine results are from providers who are selling products or services. While bias is everywhere and I do not expect Wikipedia to be without bias, it does help. Wikipedia is a great resource for research.
Held at New York University’s school for the Interactive Telecommunications Program (ITP), Last year, ITP also hosted Software Freedom Day 2012 where I met James Vasile who is a member one of my favorite projects, Freedom Box.
I plan to attend future Wikipedia Day meetups as well as OpenITP’s Circumvention Tech Summit in Hong Kong this April.
